Work
I've worked at Epic since June 2005, where we make medical software. I am in Technical Services, which means I provide technical support for hospitals and health systems who have installed our software. I work with a group in Reading, PA currently and have supported Ochsner (in New Orleans, LA) and Dean (in Madison, WI) in the past.
I am part of the leadership team for our outpatient application and help manage a team of around 300 employees. I am directly responsible for a team of 43.
Education
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a B.A. in English with a focus on literature in December 2005. There were many benefits to an education grounded in the Humanities. I learned to work with those who are different from me and to welcome new viewpoints. I also learned to synthesize complicated topics, collect thoughts and opinions, perform detailed research, and explain my findings to a variety of audiences.
Hobbies
I spend my free time in several different ways. I am an avid reader, and usually expect to read one or two books a month. I enjoy science fiction and historical nonfiction. The biographies I've read on Teddy Roosevelt are some of my favorite books. If you have any recommendations, let me know! I also play slow pitch softball in and around Madison.
I have recently begun volunteering with the Oregon/Brooklyn food pantry. It has been rewarding helping those in my community and getting to know more of my fellow Oregonians.
